What is a hurricane?

A hurricane is like a giant spinning storm - imagine a super big merry-go-round made of clouds and rain! These storms form over warm ocean water and can bring strong winds and lots of rain when they reach land.

Don't worry though! Meteorologists (weather scientists) can track hurricanes days before they arrive, giving families plenty of time to get ready.
